Deborah Hopwood
Debbie is a full time missionary and pastor of the church Oasis de Esperanza (Oasis of Hope) in Northeastern Mexico. She has a passion to raise up godly men and women to continue the work of reaching the people of Matamoros, Tamaulipas and beyond for the gospel. She also is devoted to teaching discipleship, while bringing together an Acts community that cares for one anothers' spiritual and material needs. Oasis de Esperanza was founded in 1998 by Stan and Debbie Hopwood and since Stan’s tragic death in 2008, Debbie has carried on the work, reaping the harvest they sowed together, bringing Oasis from a small plant to a thriving congregation. Aside from regular services and prayer meetings, Oasis also has ministries focused on providing support to those experiencing grief and addiction, single mothers, and married couples, as well as hosting an enormous Vacation Bible School every summer with hundreds of children in attendance. Thanks to generous donations as well as the hard work and commitment of the congregation, construction of a 500+ seat auditorium was completed to meet the needs of this growing church.
Long term goals for Oasis are to start a Christian K-12 school, ministry school, and missionary training center.
