David & Michelle Heed
David and Michelle are missionaries to the people of Tanzania, East Africa. The emphasis on the mission is children's ministries.
We are currently based in Rochester NY, but our mission continues on in full strength. David is engaged with the oversight of the day-to-day operation and communications with our amazing team of leaders in Tanzania. David also takes trips to visit the projects and encourage our faithful workers.
Here are the highlights of the mission:
1. Children’s Feeding Programs
2. English tutoring for young children (Building an Elementary School)
3. Raising up young leaders
4. Provision for health.
I. Children’s Evangelical Feeding Programs
The Children’s Feeding Programs are done in 15 different villages in partnership with the churches.
We do a church service for children with singing, dancing, and games while teaching the word of God. After the service, the children receive something to eat.
We are reaching 2,400 children with regular presentations of the gospel and discipleship. We have seen thousands of children come to the Lord. There are even recent reports of whole families coming to the Lord because of the children. Whole families are getting saved and joining the church.
II. Tutoring Center (Elementary School)
We have a dream of starting an Elementary School in the village of Simbo. We are currently
constructing our 5th building which will bring to completion a total of eight classrooms and an office.
For now, it operates as a tutoring center. The 150 students get lessons a few days a week (K-6) in English,
math, and science. We want to raise up the next generation of the nation’s leaders, using children
who come from poverty and who would otherwise have no chance to succeed.
III. Raising up Young Leaders
We are currently supporting High School students, college students, and others in education for
various trades. We are raising a team of people who can impact their nation for Jesus.
IV. Provision for Health
Health insurance is so cheap in Tanzania. An entire family can get health insurance for a full year for
only $15 US, which provides unlimited free medicine. The families who choose not to get it, suffer
from many preventable illnesses. We have supported 915 families get health insurance this year. We
also provide support for 95 children with sickle-cell disease, and we distribute worm medicine to our villages when we are able.
