THE VESSEL
Listen as Pastor Phil shares a word emphasizing that God isn’t just interested in saving you, but in making you a man or woman of God and a vessel of honor that can be used for His purposes. The story of the potter and clay found in Jeremiah 18 serves as a powerful illustration of God’s sovereignty and the transformative journey believers undergo. Pastor Phil reminds us that while we may feel broken or inadequate, it is precisely in our brokenness that God’s power can be made manifest. God desires to work in our lives and temper the vessel so that what pours out of us is purer – what pours out in our marriages, in raising our children, at our jobs, and in every other area of life. Tempering develops us, strengthens us, and gets us ready to do mighty things for the Kingdom!
When circumstances are tough it can get easy to place blame. Maybe you’ve been placing the blame on your spouse, boss, child, or the police officer who gave you a speeding ticket! We can blame anyone, but the truth is that God is lovingly dealing with us and our hearts. God will use the circumstances of our lives to develop us and get us ready for the things that He has ready for us. If you want to be a leader in your home, a leader in your workplace, or a leader in your church you have to allow God to temper and mold you. He is making us into vessels of honor!
