LOVINGKINDESS

LOVINGKINDESS

Listen as Pastor Phil shares a message from Jeremiah 9:23-24, “Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth…”

The word for boast means worship. The Lord is going after the hearts of His children and warning them not to place their hope and strength in their own abilities. Instead, we are called to place our hope in the loving-kindness or covenant of God.

The word for loving-kindness, chesed, means a covenant or binding agreement between God and man. We can identify three core aspects of the word – strength, steadfastness, and love. This multifaceted understanding of loving-kindness transcends mere sentimentality; it represents a deep commitment to mutual obligations within a relationship, particularly between God and His people. God’s loving-kindness is not a mere transactional exchange but an invitation to experience His grace and mercy. When we fail and mess up we can return to Him and He will be faithful to uphold his covenant with us. He does not change!

We hope this word encourages you to further anchor your heart in God’s loving-kindness.
