Flower City Church Update!
Hey Elim family, sharing a quick update about our progress with Flower City Church. We sense the wind of God's Spirit blowing and moving us forward, and we're counting on him in all things. After a prayer night with the Launch Team in late May, we started regular Sunday morning gatherings in "pre-launch" mode at a retreat house in the Highland Park area of Rochester. We're focusing these early meetings on growing together as a team, with time for worship, Word, prayer, and practical equipping. We're also sharing regular meals together. There are few things that grow a sense of togetherness and family as quickly as sharing a table and some great food!
Our first series of messages is dedicated to the foundations of our faith in Jesus and who we are as a church. My wife Emily and I believe God spoke a word to our hearts, that "We're a people before we're a place. And we're a people before we're a program." What kind of people? A Jesus people, a people on mission, a people of the Word, and a people of the Spirit! I'm so exicted about these first gatherings as we come into God's presence together and prepare for our new mission.
Several big areas of prayer and admin focus right now are making preparations to form ministry teams for pre-launch services beginning in August, working through the drafts of our filings for 501(c)(3) status, and nailing down our worship site as we get closer to our October launch.
